Dear visitors today here I came up with a very useful and interesting topic how you can share internet via wifi in windows xp using settings of windows itself. There is no need of installing any kind of software. Before starting to write in detail about post one thing I want to share here with you which is what the reason why I decided to share this great thing with you guys.
Today I went out of city with my friend but unfortunately I missed my 3G wireless internet usb at home but my friend took his usb with him. I wanted to use internet in the way but I did not disturb my friend at all because he was preparing for his presentation for that we were going out of the city. Instead of this I used internet on my laptop using a shared internet connection of my friend’s 3G internet usb through some easy steps. So, following are steps that you have to follow in order to share
internet via wifi in windows xp
Note: I am having windows Xp in my Laptop but my friend has Windows 7.
- You should log on to your host computer as an Administrator.
- Wifi should be turned on.
Make sure that your Wireless Zero Configuration Services are started. If not then go to Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Services now double click on Windows Zero Configuration service and start it as you can see in the following image it is started.
Go to Network Connections in your Control Panel by going to Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections.
Go in Properties in menu by right clicking on internet connection that you want to share. Generally, it is Local Area Connection as shown below.
Click on ‘Advanced Tab’ in Local Area Connection Properties Window. Now check the box ‘Allow other network user to connect through this computer’s Internet connection’ and then click OK.
Right-click on the ‘Wireless Network Connection’ by repeating step 1 then choose ‘Properties’.
Select the ‘Wireless Networks’ tab in the Wireless Network Connection Properties window.
Check the box ‘Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings’ and then click on ‘Add…’.
A new window will open. Give a SSID Network name (any name you want). Check ‘Connect even if this network is not broadcasting’ and the Keep the check boxes checked or unchecked as highlighted in the picture below . Select the Network Authentication as ‘Open’ and the Data encryption as ‘WEP’. Type the ‘Network key’ (Should be 5 or 13 Alphanumeric character) . Click on OK.
You have successfully created your network.
Now Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections.
Right click on the ‘Wireless Network Connection’ then choose ‘View Available Wireless Networks’. Now Select the network you created named as given in SSID and connect it by giving Authentication key you specified in previous steps.
Enjoy your laptop as your wifi hotspot.
