Onam: India is celebrating Onam Festival and this it is being celebrated today – SRC

Onam Festival is the harvest festival which is celebrated by the Indians in Kerala, India. It is the festival in which the happiness is spread by playing the various sports, festivities and ritual celebrations.

It  is the legend according the Indians that Kerala was once ruled by the very grateful, kind and generous demon-king named Mahabali.

So, Keralites celebrate Onam to welcome their king. This harvest get colors as this goes 10 days and every body celebrate it with colorful cloths, shopping etc. This festival starts in the end of the August and the starting of the September as the Malayalam New Year starts.

They also celebrate this festival by sending happy Onam day sms messages, facebook and whatsapp status. People of Kerala eagerly wait for this harvest as this comes after an year. Main enjoyment is to create a Pookalam designs and enjoy it with friends and family members.
