Cable TV in Pakistan to be digitalized in 2016

The Cable TV System of Pakistan is to be digitalized within a year to facilitate audience and customers.

In 2016, the Cable Operators Association of Pakistan (COAP) is also taking suitable steps towards the advancement and implementation of technology. They have decided to convert the analogue cable system to digital cable TV system by September across the whole country.

This whole conversion of the cable TV system will be started with 12 major cities initially, taking the total cost of Rs. 90 billion.

Absar Alam – the Chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) when addressing to the Press Conference said that: we have requested the Pakistan’s government to declare the cable system as an industry and provide it tax in order to convert analogue cable system to digital and to buy materials for this purpose.

Furthermore, you have to pay approx. Rs. 5,000 to get an additional Set top box that will be needed for digital cable TV system.
